LB Werkzeugtechnik GmbH (LB Tool Engineering GmbH) supplies cutting tools and technologies for machining wood, metal and plastics to industry and trade. The family-owned company has been a customer of Swabian machine manufacturer VOLLMER since 2022. Since May 2024, the Saxony-based company has been using the VOLLMER VGrind argon grinding machine to manufacture its special and standard carbide tools, in particular to drive growth in the metal sector.

When ECC Timber Products was founded by PJ Fahy in 1992, the company could only dream of becoming the success it is today. Swabian sharpening specialist VOLLMER is presenting its new VOLLMER filtration system 400, or VFS 400 for short, for the first time at the GrindingHub 2024 trade fair in Stuttgart. The cleaning system enables ultra-fine filtration of cooling oil or dielectric from up to two VOLLMER sharpening machines. The degree of purity of the cooling oil or dielectric is crucial in tool machining, in order to sharpen the cutting edges of drills, milling cutters or reamers with the highest precision.

The English city of Doncaster is home to the medium-sized tool manufacturer Systco-Unilap. The company has 22 employees and manufactures circular saws and rotary tools. Eleven VOLLMER machines form the basis for production – three of which were delivered by the Biberach-based sharpening specialist in 2022. With the new CHX 840, QXD 250 and VGrind 260 machines, Unilap has been able to take its automated tool machining to a new level. The tool manufacturer is also a good example of how the British grinding market will remain of interest to VOLLMER even after Brexit.

The Biberach-based sharpening specialist VOLLMER is pursuing a sustainable digital strategy implemented using the Orange Vield approach. At VOLLMER, digitalisation encompasses machines as well as services and internal IT systems and is intelligently networked with customer and supplier applications.
